I can remember Sheffield United last time around that they made the jump to the Premier League. Back then, they were dismissed as having no chance as well, so I shall avoid being hasty and jumping on the bandwagon that they are to be lambs to the slaughter this year.

First of all, their manager is a serial success story, and despite it coming lower down the ladder, this recent record of league wins and promotions is something to behold and I would be extremely disappointed if such things were thrown away were United to make a slow start to the campaign.

Their team is far from being littered with star names, but the signings of Ravel Morrison, Oli McBurnie and Lys Mousset has sprinkled a little sparkle into the squad, and any of those 3 could be the difference between them surviving and not.

Added to them is the wonder that is Billy Sharp. I cannot believe anyone would begrudge Sharp a season of fairytale moments. While the rampant commercialism of football these days has seen a lot of people become concerned as to whether the heart has been ripped from it, the idea of Billy Sharp scoring a last second winner on the last day of the season to keep United up is something that would make even the most disillusioned fan believe again.
